Hebrews 13:5-6

This past Sunday, we learned about God’s desire for his children to live a life of contentment with God’s promised presence and gracious help (Hebrews 13:5-6). When we live with contentment, it leads people who observe our lives to see that God is enough for us. This is part of our Christian witness. It also helps us live free from greed and free to live generously and missionally. God is enough for us, His grace is enough for us, His presence is enough for us. He has given us what we need in Himself.

May our hearts be filled with joy as we look to Him to satisfy us and be our all in all. Here is a song to listen to and sing as you reflect on this truth.

Listen to Pastor Keith's sermon on Christian Contentment here.

In this sermon, we see that God calls His people to guard against covetousness and find contentment in all that He offers us in Himself.

  • Contentment helps free us from covetousness.

  • Contentment comes from God’s promised presence .

  • Contentment is experienced through God’s gracious help.

  • Contentment is not based on our circumstances; it surpasses them.

  • Contentment is not automatic; it’s learned.

  • Contentment is not complacency or passivity.
